A CHANGE OF GENERATION

A CHANGE OF GENERATION

Passing the baton from parents to children

You don’t need an 18th-century house to need renovating. Our way of life has changed over the past decade; our expectations and desire for space are evolving rapidly, and energy standards are improving year on year. That is why a building, even one from the 1960s, is today not only a little retro in appearance, but also fails to meet modern expectations at all.

This project required a bit of ingenuity on our part to reconfigure the layout of the spaces. Firstly, we moved the main entrance to create a cloakroom area at the entrance. Next, we completely transformed the small, dark sitting room into a large, bright living room, opening onto the staircase, with particular attention paid to the old wrought-iron banister. The biggest challenge lay in combining the toilet and the bathroom. Indeed, we had to fit a bath and a shower, in addition to the toilet and washbasin, into a 4.3 m² room. We therefore created a walk-in shower which, when the door is closed, is only 20 cm deep and thus only takes shape when the door swings open into the middle of the bathroom.
