The healthcare sector has always been a sector apart, due to its specific standards and requirements, but also because of its constraints. The renovation of a pharmacy is, of course, no exception to this rule! But renovation also means having to work within the constraints of the existing space and building structure. The challenge, therefore, was to work within the same floor area whilst adding two consultation rooms, a second enclosed office and a well-designed break area… all without knocking down any walls! To achieve this, we completely reimagined the space, from the location of the reception desk to the layout of the medicine cabinet, including the sales area and the laboratory. Apart from the load-bearing walls, only the front door remained in place.

But the most striking aspect of this project was neither the spatial planning nor the constraints arising from specific requirements! It was the extraordinary teamwork, the collaboration that took hold right from the very first discussions, and the clear, precise communication regarding needs and aspirations, to which we were always able to respond positively. It is thanks to the professionalism of everyone involved – from the assistants to the head pharmacists, including the project managers and external consultants – that we were able to turn this project into a superb working environment!

It was this excellent preparation, combined with a well-thought-out brief, that enabled us to deliver a project striking the right balance between ergonomics and aesthetics. The warm shades of beige and wood provide a subtle contrast to the matt white panels and smooth white walls. Here and there, touches of brushed aluminium meet large glass panels, allowing light to pass through or concealing private spaces conducive to the confidentiality of a medical consultation. This combination of materials, colours and light lends a sense of serenity to this new space dedicated to care and focused on well-being.
